What Students Say...

The Good

  • "Georgia Institute of Technology gives its students an incredible, quality education. I love this place! First, the opportunities that the name ‘Georgia Tech’ brings to its students are invaluable, and cannot be compared to any other institution. Many of my colleagues simply received interviews and offers solely because of the name on their resume. It’s also important to mention how great the professors and staff are here, as well. Further, the community is awesome. I have met and will continue to meet incredible minds. There are so many different people and groups here that everyone will find a place. The friends that I have made here I hold close to my heart. Also, I want to mention its location. Atlanta is truly a beautiful city with many things to do after a long days of studying. There's the Coca-cola factory, Ponce City Market, and much more."
  • "So glad I decided to go to Georgia Tech. It is such an amazing school with great opportunities. I was worried about there being a competitive environment at such a prestigious school, but everyone here is very down to earth and very helpful. I have had kids who barely know me offer help with homework for hours or invite me to join a research program with them. The classes themselves are good, most of my teachers are amazing at what they do and I learned a lot because of them. There are people from all walks of life and I guarantee you that if you have any interest, no matter how obscure, you will find other people with those same interests. For example, there are lots of social events and Greek life if that is what you are looking for. There are so many opportunities outside of courses to pursue, the opportunities are endless. Combine that with being in one of the most vibrant cities in the world, and you have everything you need to become one helluva engineer!”

The Not-So-Good

  • "Georgia Tech is a competitive institute that gives you a high level of education. However, there needs to be a balance with rigorous coursework that does not excessively stress out the student. Many students including myself feel like the institute does not care too much about the wellbeing of students.”
  • "The college is academically rigorous, much to our benefit academically, but to our detriment mentally and emotionally.”
  • "Incredibly stressful academic experience. Most learning is done from a textbook, not from a teacher. Only valuable because it can provide you with incredible connections to recruiters and it can give you head starts on internships.”

Notable Alumni

  • Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States
  • John F. Brock, Chairman & CEO of Coca-Cola
  • Bobby Jones, Founder of The Masters golf tournament
  • Mike Duke, Former President & CEO of Walmart
  • John Heisman, Georgia Tech’s first full-time football coach (Heisman Trophy named in his honor)
