Dear HS Parents,

We are delighted to begin a new school year in the Office of College Admission at BASIS International School Park Lane Harbour. For the 2023-2024 school year, the Office of College Admission consists of five counselors and one College Admission Coordinator. We are so thrilled to have a full team of talented, experienced counselors who can give a great degree of personal attention to each of our high school students.

This year, the college counselors for G10-12 students remain the same as last year. Each G9 student is assigned to the caseload of one of our five Directors of College Admission. Seniors at a BASIS school have a daily College Counseling seminar class, affording them 50 minutes of undisturbed college application support in Grade 12. Our seniors will also have a college counselor as the supervisor of their daily study hall (AE) period which lasts for 25 minutes. In total, every senior will have at least 75 minutes of daily support to prepare superior college applications.

For those students in Grades 9-11, we will also offer substantial guidance to prepare for the college application. Each student will, at a minimum, have three individual meetings with their counselor. This is just the baseline expectation – students who have additional questions or would like more frequent guidance will always have access to their counselor. Students can ask questions via Microsoft Teams or email, schedule additional appointments, or drop by our office in A304.

We hope that, like for our students, individual meetings with parents will be more deliberate and valuable after we provide adequate information from the programming above. The more confident our parents are, the better our students can prepare for the college application. We really hope to be partners with you in your child’s college application preparation, so, as always, we welcome parent meetings upon request. You can request a meeting through the BG Cloud WeChat mini-program.

You may have read our Sea Dragon College Admission Blogs in the past. Since September 2020, the BIPH College Admission team has written 108 blog posts about various topics related to college application preparation. We will continue to produce weekly blog posts this year, the topics of which will align with the student programming presented above. The Sea Dragon College Admission Blog can be accessed through the QR code as below. To access the blog post, hover your cursor over the title of the blog post and click the “↗ Open” button.

Working with the BIPH Class of 2023, we have been enthused to see the college outcomes that our students were able to achieve. Every year, we feel a little more confident helping students traverse the challenging college application, and with a more well-refined plan, we believe that the College Admission Department at BIPH can help your student achieve great things, as well.

Here’s to a great 2023-2024 school year with you all!
